What is the best age to get students into technology?

Nowadays, getting kids into technology is very common because as some people say this new generation is almost born with technology in its hand. I believe that now the majority of kids know how to use a cellphone or a computer because they are been taught since kindergarten and sometimes the kids show adults how to use it.

I do not think that there is a limit for age or parameter that establishes "this is the correct age to involve students in technology". I think that as long as a student is able to understand how to use technology like cellphones or computers, which are the common device that kids use or that is near for them, they can start getting involved in technology. In my opinion, the age that might adequate is around 5 or 6 years old because generally is the age where they start paying more attention that when they 4 or less. I mean that there attention spam lasts more time and like I mention before nowadays for kids results much easier to use technology than some adults.

I have to say that there might not be like an exactly age for students to get involved in technology as long as they are able to understand how to use and for what purposes they will use it. I think that is important for students to get involved with technology since they are very young because it will be easier for them to use it when they are grown up. That is why for some adults are complicate to use it or to learn how to use it because they were not taught since they were young. In these days is important to be capable of using technology because in the majority of jobs, employers ask or demand for the usage of technology; so the younger they are is better.

Recently, kids are learning how to use technology very young and are becoming experts or masters in technology more than some adults. Before, people learn how to use some devices when they were adults or teenagers; now, kids have access to technology and easily learn and dominate it.

Advantages and Disadvantages of a Traditional Class and an Online Class

When talking about a traditional class we are talking about those classes that we take everyday in a regular classroom, a board (white or chalk) and desks. When talking about an online class we are talking about having a class over the web, using new tools but only over the computer. Having to teach either a traditional class or an onlince class is difficult on its own way but both of these have advantages and disadvantages when they are develop.

A traditional class in a classroom is the way that we are all use to learn. For me, one of the advantages that this class has is the fact that teachers can monitor better their students. It means that they can check on them either to make sure they are performing the activities correctly or to clarify the students doubts. It is very important as teacher to do this, but in an online class, can you really monitor your students? I do not think so, therefore, this class has that advantage of clarifying doubts instantly. Another advantage that I can mention about a traditional class is that everyone has access to it. If we think about the reality that we live in our country, we have certain places out of the city which some persons do not really have electricity in their houses ir live very poorly but do have access to a school in which they can receive a traditional class. On the other hand, a disadvantage that I probably see in a regular and normal class in the classroom might be that lack of innovation. Sometimes being in a traditional class can get boring especially if the teacher has no motivation of doing the class different or innovative.

We also have the other type of class which is the online class. Nowadays, technoly has become an important factor in education, it not only helps to innovate your class but it can enhance it as well. An advantage that I can mention about the online classes is the "internet". We can find some many information about some many different things over the internet that sometimes it facilitates our homework assignments. Also, receiving classes by an online class can be much more comfortable especially for the people who have to travel a lot ot get to their schools. It can also facilitate the students' schedule if they have to work or if they have other resposabilities. Now lets check out the "bad side" of an online class. First of all, I think that not having access to internet can definitely obstruct the learning process because if you have to look up for certain links, how would you be able to do it without internet? It can almost be impossible to do it. Also, teachers cannot monitor the students' development which it means that they cannot keen an eye on them. Also the students will not be able to do extracurricular activities like the regular or traditional class. Another disadvantage might be the fact that if students have any doubt they cannot receive an instantly answer from the teacher for different reasons such as, the teacher might not have access to internet or is not log in.

As mention before, both classes have their advantages and disadvantages as well but both have the same objective which is for the students to learn and also to facilitate the students' learning process. Both can really be helpful for the students. Most likely, traditional class will never expire because is the way we all have gone to classes but the online class is becoming essential since technology is an important part of our lives.

Five new tools for our lesson plan: MIND42, YOUTHINK, BRAINSHARK and MAILVU

These new tools will definitely hel us as teachers to improve and enhance our lesson plan for our online classes more than a regular class. These tools can make our class much more interactive which it will make the learning process better. The tools that today I will talk about are: MIND42, YOUTHINK, BRAINSHARK and MAILVU.

Mind42 is a very useful tool because you can insert images from URLs, URL links to external websites, add notes to branches, and many more things. Mid42 helps to make mind maps which s similar to brainstorming because from one word or picture you can make an outline and point out important ideas.

Next we have Youthink which is another helpful tool in which we can make quizzes and personality tests, ask and answer questions, create profiles, journals, forums and more.  Students can also express their personal ideas, we can say that students can develop the macroskills.

Then we have Brainshark that is a tool which allows the users to create video presentations. Obviously, this tool can be use for our students to develop the speaking skills , reading skills, listening skills and writing skills. Everytime you create a presentation you develop the 4 macroskills because you need to read what you will present, listen to the video or music you will add, write or in this case type the information that will be presented and speak or talk about you presentation. So in this case, this tool is helpful for these activities.

Finally, Mailvu is an easy online video recording, video email, and video sharing that can be used in the lesson plan. This tool has lots of advantages because it allows for the users to create their videos and send them immediately instead of sending a regular email. Plus you do not need to sing up and it is private. This can allow ou to communicate easily with your students or you can have an interactive class by sharing mails and they can develop their speaking and listening skills.

To sum it up, all the tools mentiones before: MIND42, YOUTHINK,BRAINSHARK and MAILVU can definitely enhance your lesson plan and can make the online class more interactive that can help your students to clarify ideas easily. These tools can make the learning process better and it can also be facilitated.
