Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Youtube

Using Youtube for different purposes can be very useful. Nowadays, it is one of the most important website to upload videos. Very important and famous around the world have used Youtube as a platform to become famous or to show themselves to the world. But even though Youtube is useful it not only had it advantages but it also has its disadvatages.

Lets start with the good part of using Youtube, so some of the advantages that we can mention about it are the fact that this famous website is easy to upload videos and you do not spend money for uploading them; it is totally free. For you to upload a video you only need to have a gmail account which is very easy to create. Also it is easy to share not only within your Youtube channel but now you can share in the different social networks like: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr,etc. Also, it can be mention the fact that there are some privacy features which allows for you to have certain privacy in whom you share it with. Youtube is also accesible for everyone which this facilitates searching different videos of all type, nowadays you can find all type of music videos, funny videos, educational videos, etc.

As every website, Youtube also has its disadvantages. Unfortunately it does not have parental control which is means that even kids can have access to videos that are not appropiate for their age; obviously, this does not affect us much but it can hinder kids. Another disadvantage is the fact that there is no restriction on the comments which this can lead to racism, insults,etc. Sometime people do not measure their words or comments towards something and in this case Youtube allows this to happend since there is no one restricting the mean and awful comments that some people do. Another negative thing about Youtube is that some videos are not available in certain countries; for example, I have tried to see some videos but it says that it is not available in our country and in some occassions it takes a lot of time to charge the video when the internet is not working properly.

As it has been mention before, Youtube has it bad side but also the good things that can help us or simply entertain us. Although Youtube has disadvantages these do not take credit to the positive thing it has since it is a very useful tool that as teachers we can use in class. We can use certain videos from Youtube for educational purposes either to enhance our class or maybe to introduce a new topic to our students. To sum it up: having its pros and cons Youtube has become an important tool in different areas and for people all over the world.
