How can we use Hot Potatoes for Kids,Teenagers and Adults?

Hot Potatoes is a tool that can help us to creat a series of activities of different types; for example, reading and comprehension activities,fill in the blanks,matching,etc; it is certainly a great tool for the teachers to use with their students and that it can be use with different levels like,basic,intermediate and advanced students as well as for different ages like kids, teenagers and adults. 

We can use Hot Potatoes for kids, I believe that are certain activities from Hot Potatoes that we can use with our kids but we have to obviously adapt the level to their knowledge. For example, we can use with them JMix where they can put in order a sentence. I believe that for the kids´ level we can use basic sentences. It is not adequate to use very long and complicate reading comprehensions with kids because this will be very difficult for them and they might be some words that they might not understand in the reading. Also, another activity is JCross because they can play by doing a crossword and at the same time they are doing an activity that will enhance their learning process; obviously, you have to adapt it to their level.

In the case of the teenagers, students should have a higher level than the kids and they can use all the Hot Potatoes activities: JQuiz, JMix, JCloze, JCross and JMatch. As the same case as the kids I believe that we will have to adapt these type of activities but I am sure they can develop them in the classroom because the only different from a regular reading comprehension or a matching activity would be the fact that they are doing in over the computer. Besides, Hot Potatoes have the advantage in certain activities that you can put a hint and help the student out with the activity. With teenagers you will obviously will have to use topics that will capture their attention and will facilitate these great activities.

For adults, as well as the teenagers the adults will be able to do every activity: reading comprehension, matching, crosswords, fill in the blanks and put in order the sentences. The adults as different from the kids, will not have problems in solving all the activities, unless the teacher uses very complicated material.

To sum it up, Hot Potates is a useful tool that helps the teachers to create different type of activities: matching, fill in the blanks,etc. These activities are not only easy to create but they are not complicated to develop with your students in the class. This tool, Hot Potates, can definitely be applyable for all level and with kids, teenagers and adults.
